What happened on your bodies of water this weekend? (7-8 September 2019)

Tour of Brittany under sail 2019

Here are the regattas and sailing races, in monohull and multihull, kite, surfboard or hydrofoil catamaran that took place this weekend from September 7 to 8, 2019.

Sailing Tour of Brittany (September 7 to 14)

After a prologue launched on September 6th - won by the duo Loïs Berrehar/Corentin Horeau (Bretagne CMB Performance) - the first stage of the Tour of Brittany Sailing was held on Saturday September 7th. 37 pairs set off from Saint-Quay-Portrieux in 6 to 8 knots of northerly wind, heading towards Saint-Malo. Very quickly, however, the fleet broke up on a large north/south line, led by Gildas Mahé/Morgan Lagravière (Breizh Cola/Equithé), followed very closely by Martin Le Pape/Pierre Quiroga (Skipper Macif) and Fabien Delahaye/Benjamin Schwartz.

At the end of this 44 mile sprint, only 10 minutes separate the first from the last. This first stage marks the victory of the class's top tenors - the father/son duo Morvan on Niji - but it also sheds light on superb pledge or amateurs: Lou Berthomieu (Myrtha Pools, co-skipper Guillaume Farsy) - from Nacra 15 - 3rd of the stage and youngest in the fleet or Guillaume Farsy, technical coach for many years on the circuit.

5 races are still to come to decide between the skippers. The 2nd stage between Saint-Malo and Brest was launched on Sunday 8 September. Due to the harsh weather conditions in the Irish Sea, the race management decided to reduce the course to 257 miles.

Engie Kite Tour (September 7 to 9)

This Saturday, September 7, 2019, the third stage of the Engie Kite Tour began. For 3 days, the 33 competitors gathered in Wimereux, in the Pas-de-Calais, to race in very good conditions - strong wind (15-20 knots with gusts in the squalls) and a beautiful swell - on the three supports engaged. In kitefoil, we find at the outposts Dunkirk Anaïs Mai-Desjardins and Alexia Fancelli. In Twin-tip, another Dunkirk took the lead, Charles Brodel. Finally, Alex Caizergues, is intractable on a directional board.

Finist'Air Sailing (September 5 to 8)

This 3rd edition of the Finist'Air Sailing took place in Brest and gathered multiple supports: windsurfing, kitesurfing and flying catamarans. And of course, all at foil?! On the program, time trials, the best time, pursuit races and qualifying events, in raids or on coastal courses.

On the last day of the race, the absence of wind did not allow to throw legs in Kite Foil and Wind Foil. At the end of these four days of racing, Teamn France Jeune (Solune Robert - Antoine Rucard) won the race in Cata Foil, Clément Bozec (Brest Bretagne Nautisme) in Wind Foil and Sébastien Cou (CN Fouesnant) in Kite Foil.

Brest Multi50 Trophy (September 5 to 7)

The Brest Multi 50 Trophy ended after three days of racing between coastal and built courses. Bateaux.com was also on board the Multi50 of Gilles Lamiré, Groupe GCA, to help you experience the adventure .

Lalou Roucayrol (Lalou Multi) won this last Brest event with a total of 7 races won out of 9 thrown. He also won the title of French champion of discipline. Thibault Vauchel-Camus (ARSEP - Solidaires en Peloton) is vice-champion of France. Loïc Fequet (Ciela Village) completes the podium.
