Les Sables - Horta

Here are the races and regattas that took place this weekend of July 14, 2019.

Les Sables - Horta - July 12

This Friday, July 12, at 4:08 p.m. (Paris time), the thirteen duets of the 7th edition of Les Sables - Horta set off for the second stage of the race, with a southerly flow blowing between 8 and 10 knots. Vincent Leblay and Brieuc Maisonneuve (Cré'actuel) made the best start before handing over the fleet to William Mathelin - Moreaux and Marc Guillemot (Beijaflore).

The weather does not promise to open up any major options on the 1?270 miles of the course between Faial and the Vendée, but it looks more complex than it seems. This return match will be decisive for the overall ranking, with the gaps being particularly tight at the end of the first round, as evidenced by the 45 minutes separating the top three.

Classic Sails - July 11 to 13

The second stage of the Metric Challenge, the Classic Sails will be held from July 11 to 13. The winner 8MJI 2017, Tanneguy Raffray, skipper for more than 40 years of the former sailboat of the King of Spain, Hispania IV, will be present to recover his title lost in 2018. He will be facing Olivier Champeaux on Silk and Jean-Michel de Poulpiquet on Bluered.

Three 5.5MJI and a total of ten boats raced in Quiberon Bay. Not surprisingly, it was Wyvern, skippered by Stephan O'Reilly Hyland, who won the Classic Sails in his 8MJI category.

Normand III won the victory in 6MJI. Yann delabrière (Enez C'Las) wins by 5.5 MJI. In Shark, Pascal Civel (Rex) takes his revenge by winning the last race and thus the 2019 Classic Sails.

National 7M50 - July 11 to 13

About ten 7M50 monotypes raced in Quiberon Bay from July 11 to 13. The 2018 winner, Erwan Gourdon, came to put his title back into play on Bahia but finally finished in second place. Laurent Beaurin (Bad Oy) won this 2019 edition.

Sailing Tour - July 13 to 14

This Sunday July 14th was the last day of the Tour Voile before the Mediterranean. The eight best crews from the qualification phases competed in the final of Act 4 in Les Sables-d'Olonne in a capricious and tricky breeze.

Stevie Morrison, Abdul Rahman Al Mashari and Quentin Ponroy scored the first hat-trick of the 2019 Tour Voile on Sunday, winning the Stades Nautiques des Sables-d'Olonne in front of the surprising amateur CER - Ville de Genève crew. Cheminées Poujoulat, 3rd today, is doing a great job by taking back valuable points from the leader Team Beijaflore, 7th. Tonight, only 2 points separate these two crews.

In a week's time, in Nice, we will know the winners in each of the four classes (General, Young, Amateur and Mixed).
