The Armen Race 2019, the first confrontation of the Ultims

Armen is the first Ultim regatta of the season. During this battle we will see 3 Ultims evolve: Sodebo Ultim 3, recently launched, Edmond de Rothschild whose first race will be with his skipper and finally Actual Leader, Yves le Blevec's new trimaran. And icing on the cake, the editorial staff will embark on the race with Yves le Blevec.

The excitement is at its height as you write your magazine?!
Last April, during our visit to Yves le Blevec's Ultim winter refit, we talked about sailing in a real situation, a nav' a little more involved than a VIP outing.
And a few days ago, Yves le Blevec confirmed an invitation to participate in this battle of the giants.

A 320-mile course

Created in 2011 by the Société Nautique de la Trinité sur Mer, the ArMen Race is a large "small" crewed, non-stop offshore race open to sailing professionals and amateurs. It has quickly become a must for sailors who appreciate it for its course, its atmosphere and its array of competitors. ArMen Race Uship - May 30 to June 2 is a large "small" crewed, non-stop offshore race open to sailing professionals and amateurs. It has quickly become a must for sailors who appreciate it for its course, its atmosphere and its array of competitors.

At the start of the Trinité sur Mer, the runners saw a buoy on the Chaussée de Sein in Pointe Finistère near the Ar-Men lighthouse. Then, the fleet descends towards the island of Yeu and finally goes up the bay of Quiberon to reach La Trinité sur Mer.

An offshore race where professionals and amateurs meet.

For amateurs, it is one of the rare opportunities to meet exceptional sailing yachts belonging to the top categories of ocean racing.

In Ultim we will find Yves le Blevec (Team Actual Leader), Thomas Coville (Team Sodebo Voile), Franck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier (Team Gitana).

In Imoca, there is a beautiful set of 8 boats with Sam Davies (Initatives Coeur / K-Line/Vinci Energies), Damien Seguin (Groupe Apicil), Manuel Cousin (Groupe Setin), Fabrice Amadéo (Newrest - Art et Fenêtres), Romain Attanasio (Pure), Arnaud Boissières (La Mie Câline - Artipole), Stéphane le Diraison (Bouygues Construction - Suez - Ville de Boulogne-Billancourt), Giancarlo Pedote (Prysmian Group)

Amateurs will be divided according to their yachts in the different IRC and OSIRIS categories, plus a class reserved for double crews (56 boats registered this year). In total, more than 180 boats will start. During the race, thanks to the beacons installed on board each sailboat, families and friends will be able to follow the positions in real time.

ArMen Race, the first offshore race for the Ultims

The start of the 2019 ArMen Race Uship will take place on Thursday, May 30 at 2 p.m. in Quiberon Bay. Among the almost 200 sailboats are expected 3 Ultims just out of the worksites:

  • Team Actual Leader by Yves le Blevec with Thomas Coville's previous boat, repaired and optimized
  • Sodebo Ultim 3 by Thomas Coville, who has just been presented to the public and will play his first confrontation.
  • The Maxi Edmond de Rothschild who will be skippered by the Cammas and Caudrelier duo

The 3 skippers will start their first offshore race on board their giant trimaran. This regatta is an excellent way to get started at the beginning of the season and will allow everyone to test their horses and compete against the competition after a difficult winter.
