Three competitors to set a new crossing time Bermuda - Lorient

The brainchild of the Pure Ocean Foundation, the Bermuda-Lorient Pure Ocean Challenge involves crossing the Atlantic from west to east from Bermuda to Lorient. Participants are encouraged to collect scientific data during the 2,900-mile crossing to help better understand the health of the oceans. There will be two 42-foot multihulls alongside Jean-Pierre Dick on his JP54 monohull. The crossing time of 12 days 23 hours and 16 minutes was set in 1983 by Eugène Riguidel and Jean-François le Menec, on the catamaran William-Saurin. A shortened regatta for Les Dames de Saint-Tropez

Created in 2012, the Dames de Saint-Tropez is an event dedicated to women sailors sailing magnificent traditional yachts. This 2023 edition is a record since the limit of 20 classic yachts has been reached and 90% of the crew are women. In the running are some of the most beautiful historical units, such as Tuiga from 1908, the famous 15mJI of the Yacht-Club of Monaco. Divided into two groups - less than 13 m and more than 13 m - the 19 Tradition yachts sailed a 15-mile course in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez with sunshine and a good east wind of 8 to 10 knots. On Sunday, the lack of wind forced the cancellation of the classic yacht regatta. Tuiga in the over 13m group and Maria Giovanna in the under 13m group won this edition.
