UFO 2.0, a floating house soon in production?

After three years of development, UFO 2.0 could soon see the light of day thanks to a participatory financing system.

In 2016, we presented the UFO a kind of floating UFO with a submerged part to observe the seabed. In 2019 designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini is ready to build his "Unidentified Floating Object" thanks to a participative fundraising campaign.

After three years of development and engineering, this floating house could therefore be built in the near future.

Floating and autonomous

This 12.5 m diameter concept includes two living areas. A first on the surface with an outdoor space - terrace, vegetable garden and jacuzzi well sûr?! - and an interior space - living room/kitchen. A second one underwater with a bathroom and a room overlooking the sea floor marins?! And since the designer has thought of everything, the large glass will be equipped with a kind of windscreen wiper for an always impeccable view.

The platform incorporates batteries, water tanks and sufficient weights to submerge the living area to a depth of 2.3 m. The UFO 2.0 will also be equipped with a watermaker to live independently.

The floating house will be able to move short distances - for example, to change anchorage areas - at the limited speed of 3.5 knots. At anchor, it will be anchored in the depths thanks to 4 anchoring points.

A lease to finance the first floating habitat

To build the first unit, Pierpaolo Lazzarini thought of a kind of crowfunding. The idea is to set up a 365-day pre-leasing schedule, during which the UFO could be rented every day and every night. The total amount of the lease will be used as funds to then start production and assembly.

Once the budget is assembled, the designer estimates that he can launch the first UFO in 2021. You will therefore have to be patient before you can enjoy your day at sea, which you bought two years ago.

"Thanks to the many batteries, solar panels and watermaker, the UFO will be completely autonomous, capable of providing additional energy for electric vessels. It is therefore possible to rent it all year round" explains the designer.
