New attempt by Jules Verne for Spindrift 2

Yann Guichard skipper of the giant trimaran Spindrift 2 has just announced a new record attempt for the Jules Verne Trophy, held since January 2017 by Idec Sport (Francis Joyon). The stand-by will start in October 2019.

If we had to give Yann Guichard a quality, it is ténacité?! Year after year his objective remains the quest for the Jules Verne Trophy, which has escaped him since 2015. His latest attempt - January 2019 - again failed.

Following the damage to the rudder, which deprived the black and gold trimaran of its crewed circumnavigation, the multihull is now under construction. The boat undergoes a complete check-up and will be equipped with new rudders.

Spindrift 2 will be launched again this summer 2019 to start a series of crewed offshore training sessions in preparation for its next winter round-the-world trip. The stand-by will be shortened to two months, and will start next October, to respect the team's sporting calendar (M32, TF35...).

"First of all, I am looking forward to leaving with Spindrift 2 for a third attempt around the world. Due to the sports and technical program of the TF35, we are a little more limited on the stand-by window. I hope the weather will be with us and that we will have the opportunity to start again and flirt with the demanding time" says Yann Guichard.
