A Riva canoe at auction for Notre-Dame de Paris

Following the fire that ravaged Notre-Dame de Paris on April 15, 2019, the Italian manufacturer Ferretti announced the construction of a Riva outboard, whose auction will be donated to help rebuild the cathedral.

On Monday, April 15, 2019, Notre-Dame de Paris was seriously damaged by a fire. An event that touched the French, but also the world entier?; the cathedral is one of the most visited monuments in Europe. Donations are coming from all sides - the billion euros has been largely exceeded - and even from donors that we would not think of.

This is the case of the Italian yacht builder Ferretti - almost 87% of which is owned by the Chinese conglomerate Weichai Group. Alberto Galassi, Managing Director of the Italian group, told Reuters news agency that Ferretti was going to build an iconic Riva Yachts outboard - an elegant and luxurious mahogany motorboat. This boat will then be auctioned off to raise funds for the reconstruction of Notre-Dame.

"We are small and we are Italian, but the Riva brand owes its good fortune to the French Riviera and we have decided to build a special Riva outboard to raise money to help rebuild Notre-Dame, explained Ferretti's Managing Director.

"The price of these outboard models varies from 600?000 to 800?000 euros", he said.

After its acquisition in 2012 by the Chinese alliance, and since 2016, the group that owns brands such as Riva or Pershing has been profitable again.
