European Powerboats of The Year 2019: 5 yachts to live on the water

Here are 5 models of yachts over 45 feet to live on the water. In terms of layout, everything has been designed to feel like "at home": neat finishes, opulent equipment and refined details.

In the category of the largest boats in the competition - over 45 feet - there are units for "living on the water". Thus, the main characteristics of these models are: the possibility to travel on board for several weeks with several people. The jury shall take into account the layout and distribution of the space on board and in particular the various parts on the decks. Performance also plays an important role in the final decision.

Absolute Navetta 48

The Navetta 48 is the smallest trawler model on the Absolute site, with an overall length of 15.9 m. Even if it takes up the characteristic lines of the range, namely very straight lines, the site introduces some curves into the design of the glazing. The flybridge also brings modernity.

On board, the emphasis is on comfort and spaciousness: large tanning areas on the flybridge and foredeck, two double cabins (including an owner's cabin fitted at an angle forward, a rather surprising layout), a cabin with single beds, separate bathrooms, a large lounge on the main deck with kitchen and saloon...

Azimut Atlantis 51

The Azimut 51 is a pure open boat with plenty of space on board and an aggressive design. If the main deck is reserved for outdoor living with a large open-air lounge to relax and enjoy meals. Under the deck, there are three large cabins, but also a dining area with a kitchen and two bathrooms. A layout reminiscent of an apartment or house.

On the engine side, the Atlantis 51 is powered by two Volvo 800 engines (600 hp), with IPS transmissions for a maximum speed of 35 knots.

Beneteau Swift Trawler 47

This 48.4-foot (14.74 m) trawler was designed by Bénéteau Power and Andreani Design, who designed the last two models of this new generation of trawlers (30 and 35). The shipyard has focused on space to offer a comfortable and spacious boat. There are three cabins and a convertible sofa in the saloon. A total of 8 people will be able to sleep comfortably on board.

On the bridge, the layout includes several living spaces. To starboard a large saloon is transformed into an additional sleeping area. Facing each other, the L-shaped kitchen has a large worktop. Outside, the large cockpit and flybridge invite you to relax.

From Antonio Yachts D46 OPEN

The Spanish shipyard De Antonio Yachts is launching the D46 Open, a modern 14 m daycruiser with a straight bow and a high freeboard. Designed for sports cruising, the D46 Open can accommodate between 3 and 4 outboard motors (cleverly hidden under the bathing platform) with a maximum engine capacity of 1600 HP and a minimum of 900 HP.

At the stern, the bathing platform is overhung by two large sunbathing areas that leave a central passage to access the cockpit, where there are two dining areas - a U-shaped bench to port and an L-shaped bench to starboard with retractable tables - a steering position to starboard behind which a galley and a large sunbathing area to port are located. A bimini (optional) covers the cockpit area from the large windscreen that surrounds the cockpit to the lounges.

Finally, under the bridge three facilities are proposed: from 1 to 3 cabins with separate bathrooms.

Scabbard 640 Fly

The 640 Fly provides innovative solutions in terms of space layout and distribution. While it retains the exterior design characteristic of the brand's celebrities, the design has been redesigned to provide even more interior volume.

On the stern, there are the swivelling bulwarks that provide even more cockpit space. The superstructure, which is fully open to the rear, gives a real sense of space. The beautiful hydraulic bathing platform gives access to the sea, but also to the skipper's cabin. Access to the front axle is easy thanks to an electric opening in the windshield.

Inside, the feeling of space is pushed to its limits, with a very large fully equipped kitchen, a huge saloon, a bar, a helm station... Access to the 3 large double cabins under the deck is from the front and rear of the main deck.
