On Wednesday 24 October 2018, at 2 p.m., visitors will be able to stroll along the quays of the Route du Rhum before the official opening at 6 p.m. Soon, the two flood basins will be full, but where to see the boats of the Rhum? Route? Follow guide?!

This Wednesday 24 October opens the doors of the Route du Rhum village. If the race starts on November 4, the 123 sailboats expected in Saint-Malo should reach the privateer city throughout the week. And this, from this mercredi?! Indeed, the two basins will be almost full tonight, with 110 solo sailors expected this evening in the Vauban basin (Class40, Multi50, Rhum Mono and Rhum Multi as well as Romain Pilliard's ULTIMATE) and in the Duguay-Trouin basin (IMOCA) opposite the Palais du Grand Large.

The Duguay-Trouin Basin

This basin will host the 20 IMOCA monohulls, three Mono Rum and the legendary Pen Duick VI, led by Marie Tabarly for her project Élémen'Terre. Traditional boats will also be part of the celebration, such as Le Français, the last boat anchored at the foot of the Corsair City, or Étoile du Roy or even smaller units.

The Vauban Basin

The Vauban Basin brings together the 53 monohulls of the Class40, the six Multi50s, the 14 other Rhum Mono, the 21 Rhum Multis as well as the ULTIME trimaran Remade - Use It Again by Romain Pillard.

Visitors will also be able to discover the renewable energy and hydrogen Energy Observer ship, skippered by Victorien Erussard from Malouin.

The Maritime Station of the Stock Exchange

While the arrival of the boats has been extended to October 24 at 5 p.m. (the locks will open several times from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.), the Ultimates will not arrive in the village until October 26. With their Dantean dimensions - 32 m long and 23 m wide - these giant trimarans no longer enter the locks because of their width.

A "late" arrival also requested by the Race Direction in order to allow operations to take place safely for the bulk of the fleet, to regulate traffic and to take into account the water level at low tide.

The Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, who has agreed to take a berth at the station, will only arrive on 30 October since the tide coefficients will not be favourable before landing.
