Widely deserved maritime literary prizes

jean-Benoit Héron and his editor

At bateaux.com we like to read. Whether it's a beautiful book, a novel or a comic book. With photos or just text, we like books especially when they talk about the sea and boats. Among the books we regularly present to you, two have just received awards. A look back at these books that should not be missed in 2018.

Created in 1987 by the Central Association of Reserve Officers of the Navy (ACORAM), the "Bravo Zulu" Marine Award has just been awarded. This is an evolution of the prize that was named "Admiral Frémy" in 1996, before becoming "Marine Prize" in 2009, to be transformed in 2013 into "Marine & Oceans Prize".

Since 2017, it has been known as the "Bravo Zulu" Marine Prize, named after the two flags B and Z of the marine alphabet. These flags are used together in the Navy to congratulate on a well executed manoeuvre.

Each year, the award recognizes books related to the maritime world in three categories: books, fine books, and comics. This year, among the 5 winners, two authors that readers of Bateaux.com know well are being rewarded.

The boats in my library in the Beau Livre category. This book in which the illustrator Jean-Benoît Heron takes the time to redraw the boats with incredible precision, the boat that supports the great novels. The drawings are beautiful and put images on the sea books we have read (or that we advise you to read!).

It should be noted that this same book and author has just received a second prize: the beautiful book Prize Académie de Marine 2018. Considering the distinctions, all you have to do is buy this book! A great Christmas gift idea.

The second book we presented to you consists of 2 books. This is the saga of Gilles Belmonte's adventures written by Fabien Clauw "For the three colors" and "The treasure of the Americans" tell the story of the adventures at sea of a captain of the French fleet just after the revolution. Adventures rich in twists and turns, military history, naval battles and love affairs. Volume 3 is already announced for the beginning of 2019. We look forward to immersing ourselves in these maritime adventures.
