The Selection Boats shipyard, based in Besançon, has just presented an updated version of its Grand Large 22. Modern look and less straight wheelhouse for the exterior, as for the interior, no changes. The objective is to offer a fishing and hiking helmsman who is more focused on hiking and less on fishing.

Selection Boats, which manufactures its boats in Poland, offers a very varied range (open, cruiser, sundeck or helmsman) from 4.50 to 7.50 m, for fishing, strolling or relaxing. On this 2018 Grand Pavois, the Bisontin shipyard presented several new features, including the Grand Large 22, a 6.05 m long helmsman. This model is the 4th model in the Grand Large range, which includes the GL 19, 21 and 23 (launched at the Nautic 2017).

The smaller models have an open wheelhouse and are more focused on fishing. The two largest models adopt a closed wheelhouse and are more focused on boating, with the necessary equipment for a weekend boat trip.

Grand Large Wheelhouse 22

"The Grand Large 22 already existed and we redesigned the helmsman's base to bring him modernity and open him up a little more to the world of yachting, and not just fishing", explains Nicolas Caillaud.

The external modifications concern the wheelhouse, much less straight than on the previous model and look totally different and much more modern. A black cover covers the upper part of the hull, while large balconies protect the foredeck.

The cockpit (teak floor is an option) has two folding side benches with the possibility of installing a dining table in the centre. In the centre, a large storage box can be easily opened. It is accessed by a step to starboard, while the same space to port receives a livewell.

The glazed wheelhouse contains a very simple cockpit with a comfortable pilot seat, under which is a refrigerator (optional). A sink is installed at the back of the pilot seat on the starboard side. Here, the layout remains the same as in the old model.

The saloon is transformed into a berth to be able to spend a night on board and chemical toilets (standard) are hidden under the starboard seat. A real comfort. A dining table is also fixed inside on the port side.

The Grand Large 22 receives 100 HP (recommended power) at 150 HP maximum and reaches a top speed of 34 knots with 115 HP.

With a price of ?28,822 including VAT and a simple but sufficient basic equipment, this fishing helmsman offers an excellent price/quality ratio.
