The Vendée Globe, a magical race

The next edition will only take place in 2020 (in more than two years!) but the teaser of the next edition has just been put online. The opportunity to discover what makes the magic of the Vendée Globe: a non-stop solo round the world race without assistance, passing through the 3 capes!

The Vendée Globe makes you dream... Launched in 1989 by navigator Philippe Jeantot, based on an idea by Titouan Lamazou, this race consists in sailing around the world alone On a 60 foot IMOCA monohull, without stopover and without assistance, passing through the 3 capes: Bonne-Espérance, Leeuwin and Horn with the objective to finish!

Every 4 years - and this for almost 30 years - dozens of skippers in search of the Grail set off from Les Sables-d'Olonne, after the descent of the channel, an intense moment with many emotions, acclaimed by the thousands of spectators present.

Of the eight editions of the Vendée Globe, there are seven winners since Michel Desjoyeaux is the only one to have achieved a historic double in 2001 and 2009. But most notable and that with each edition, the record is beaten, with a historic race time of 109 days, reduced to 74 days in 2016

So who will replace the latest winner, Armel Le Cléac'h?
