2018 European Sailing Boat: 3 special sailboats with amazing features

Figaro Bénéteau 3

The Special Yachts category focuses on yachts that are unique or have specific characteristics. This category includes impressive designs, revolutionary hull constructions, innovative features or technologies such as foils or wings. Here we find two foilers and an ultra-light carbon fibre courier.

Figaro Bénéteau 3

The Figaro Bénéteau 3 is a VPLP design - a new Figaro class one-design with foils. It is also the first production one-design with these load-bearing appendages. It will be available for the 50 e edition of the Solitaire-URGO Le Figaro in the summer of 2019 as it will be the first race raced aboard. It is not only reserved for elite racers and will delight seasoned owners in search of thrills.

The sail plan is similar to that of the IMOCA class with a backstay-free mast and a slender mainsail with a horn. The cockpit is simple for single-handed sailing, designed for manoeuvring and also for removing algae from the rudder. On the fittings side, the interior is completely empty (just like the IMOCA boats), always with a view to finding the right weight.

Flaar M37

The Flaar M37 is an 11.28m high performance and fast monohull designed in Hungary entirely in carbon fibre. A yacht presented as admirably designed and particularly suitable for long distance regattas on inland waters such as Lake Constance or Lake Geneva (Bol d'Or). The interior layout is minimal with 4 berths.

TF10

The TF10 is an 11 m (36 feet) hydrofoil trimaran that is fun to sail with friends. Made of prepreg carbon fiber, this racing boat is light, but safe and sturdy. It is designed to be sailed by a competent crew of four or five sailors, in complete safety, but requiring certain skills. The objective with the TF10 was to make the foil more reliable and accessible.
