The Barracuda 6, the affordable entry level

The Grand Pavois was an opportunity for Bénéteau to present the Barracuda 6, the smallest model in its fishing range, the undisputed star of the no kill fishing competition, the Barracuda Tour.

With this small model, Bénéteau is seeking to get closer to the first-timer, as Michael Guinet, Outboard Product Manager, explains. " The Barracuda 6 is a continuation of the range, as an entry-level model and thus offers a transportable boat with a limited budget. We're looking to make the range accessible for smaller budgets."

Despite its 6.50 m long, the Barracuda 6 benefits from a rather spacious cockpit, extended by two beautiful bathing platforms, and in which there is an integrated fishing station with livewell. The bench seat at the rear of the cockpit is foldable to gain maximum space and can be completed by two side benches to provide a comfortable corner at anchor for example.

Access to the foredeck is via the wider starboard catwalk, providing a second fishing area.

In the basic version, the linkage is open (unlike the other models in the range). As an option, it can be fitted with closing covers or two sliding doors. A version that will be preferable for a touring program.

The seats are also customizable and with a choice between single seats and bolster seats.

Below the cockpit is an enclosed storage area that converts to a bunk bed (but will be used primarily for storage) and can accommodate marine toilets.

The Barracuda 6 is built on the latest generation of outboard hulls developed by Bénéteau. Diverting quickly, it remains stable while sailing and crosses waves in complete safety. Three levels of engines are available: 90, 115 and 140 HP. Many options are available, as the shipyard wished to retain the range of options offered on the rest of the range.

Bénéteau will complete the renewal of its range with the Barracuda 9, which will be presented at the end of winter 2017/2018.
