The world's most expensive Rolls Royce gets its design from superyachts

Rolls Royce Sweptail, the unique luxury car inspired by the world of yachting

Rolls Royce has just unveiled the sweptail, a unique car model, designed for a superyacht enthusiast customer and which draws its design from both the 20/30s models of Rolls Royce and the yachting world. A unique model that would have cost the trifle of 11.4 million euros, making it the most expensive new car in the world.

Rolls Royce presented on May 27, 2017 the "Sweptail", a unique car in the world, developed for 4 years for a customer, loyal to the brand, whose request was very specific. The latter - a great connoisseur and collector of rare and exceptional objects, especially superyachts and private planes - wanted a unique luxury car.

The Sweptail is therefore inspired by the Rolls Royce models of the 1920s/1930s with a panoramic glass roof that tapers to a point at the rear, but also by the Phantom I of 1925 and the Park Ward of 1934. Not forgetting a design that is reminiscent of many classic and modern yachts. Its panoramic roof is among the largest and most complex ever installed on an automobile.

Seen from the front, its distinctive design is a reminder of the luxury car brand, particularly with the new design of the iconic grille of the Rolls-Royce Pantheon. The windshield, roof and rear window are all one and despite its imposing size, this coupe has only two seats, as its buyer wanted.

But it is above all at the stern that we find the tribute to the world of racing yachts, which have inspired the customer, in particular with a wooden deck instead of passenger seats. There is an illuminated glass rest, a hat rack and luggage racks. The rear bodywork is made in one piece, a design that is once again reminiscent of a yacht. The interior is minimalist and contemporary, contrasting with the retro lines of the bodywork.

Its price would be estimated at 11.4 million euros, making it the most expensive new car in the world.
