For its 50th anniversary - which it celebrates in 2017 - the SNSM is launching a new appeal for donations on the theme of the lifeguards' unlimited commitment. "The Lifeguards are always ready to help you. Be ready to support them." For the occasion, the association is launching a dedicated website and a major multi-network communications campaign.

The year 2017 is a great year for the Société Nationale des Sauveteurs en Mer, as it is first and foremost the year of its fiftieth anniversary. It is also the year of State recognition. After having been declared Great National Cause in February 2017, by Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, the SNSM will now have a day dedicated to it. Indeed, the Prime Minister at the last La Mer Interministerial Council decided to create a National Maritime Rescuers' Day which will take place on 29 June 2017. It also marks the launch of a new donation campaign, because to function, the SNSM needs you!

The Association des Sauveteurs en Mer is 80% privately funded and today can count on the support of just over 80,000 donors. "A very small number when compared to the number of water recreation enthusiasts, which is in the millions." indicates the association in a press release.

However, the activities of the SNSM can be broken down as follows:

  • 80 % of the interventions of the on-board rescuers are related to pleasure boating
  • 40 % concern beach surveillance during the summer, carried out by the Lifeguard Swimmers

A dedicated site to support the SNSM

This communication campaign designed by the Hopening agency will be deployed on several channels, starting with a dedicated website: jesoutiens.snsm.org

You can take a quiz to find out how committed you are to saving lives compared to the SNSM volunteers, discover testimonials from rescuers, watch the SNSM video or make a donation to the association.

As a reminder, each donor can tax-exempt up to 66% of the amount of his or her donation up to a limit of 20% of taxable income. A donation of 30 euros will finally be worth the price of a cinema ticket.
