The Wally 145, a superyacht with a lot of innovations

The Wally 145 will be launched in May 2019

The Monegasque shipyard Wally has just unveiled the first images of its new jewel, the Wally 145. This 44 m high-performance luxury cruising yacht presents numerous innovations to meet the demands of its owner, an experienced yachtsman who wants to combine comfort in family cruising and performance in regattas.

Wally Yachts is expanding its fleet of superb custom yachts with the sale of the Wally 145, a high-performance and luxurious 44-metre yacht designed especially for the experienced yachtsman with the naval architecture firm German Frers. Currently under construction at the Persico Marine shipyard in Massa Carrara, Italy, she will be launched in May 2019.

"The new Wally 145 is the perfect yacht to enjoy sailing around the world. She embodies our credo of uncompromising performance combined with timeless charm and offers the owner the pleasure of true sailing, in any wind conditions, as comfortable in light airs as in strong breezes, in total comfort" said Luca Bassani, founder and president of Wally.

The latest creation from the Monegasque shipyard, designed in collaboration with the naval architect Frers, is a superyacht offering all the amenities of a cruise ship of this size, designed for round-the-world sailing, but with extraordinary performance.

"The Wally 145 has been created for an eminent yachting connoisseur, who likes to sail a sensitive, balanced, pleasant and fast boat, with his family, but also - and this is the most important point - in regattas around the world. The initial specification was for a larger boat, but was reduced in size during the design process, to gain agility, speed and be as close to the sea and the elements as possible. Extensive research has been carried out to achieve the best performance while striving to have the lightest weight, a pleasant and spacious interior, three separate deck areas and the most sophisticated sail handling system" said German Frers.

"Her sail area/displacement ratio is much higher than any other superyacht in her class, making her perform well even in 6 knots of wind, bassani confirms. Not strong breeze, it remains very stable and efficient thanks to its hull shape and its lifting keel whose bulb goes down to 7 m. "

The Wally 145 combines large volumes for a displacement of only 171 tons, about 100 tons less than a similar superyacht. This is thanks to the latest carbon fibre construction technology, naval architecture and state-of-the-art development and engineering.

The main feature remains its hybrid propulsion, based on DC Bus technology and lithium batteries that run the yacht's systems silently, providing the necessary autonomy for air conditioning and all auxiliary services for an entire night. Bow and stern thrusters, as well as electric motors connected to the twin retractable shafts, allow all the yacht's operations to be carried out silently, including the Dynamic Positioning System and standard manoeuvres.

As a result, the entire system allows the yacht to be managed in complete silence and with zero emissions, improving comfort in light airs and avoiding pollution in protected areas and immaculate environments, as well as in ports, with no motorised assistance. At full power, the yacht is capable of reaching the exceptional cruising speed of 15 knots.

The Wally 145 has an innovative layout, which is a further development of Wally's interior-exterior concept introduced in 1998 with Tiketitan. The main saloon is on the same level as the cockpit, with no steps between the two spaces, further enhancing Wally's distinctive style, safety and comfort. There are also two other cockpits on deck, one sheltered and one open-air.

"A unique layout is present on this 44 m Wally: the third cockpit integrated at the rear of the lower deck, at the level of the master suite explains Lucas Bassani . This new cockpit is reserved for owners, who can enjoy the outdoors in complete privacy."

The interiors, developed by Wally in collaboration with Droulers Architects and Studio Mauro Sculli, include a large proprietary space with two queen-size beds, two bathrooms (one with a bathtub), a desk and a double dressing room. The guest area can accommodate up to 6 people in two cabins, with twin beds and a hanging bed.

The saloon is located amidships, above the engine room, with seating for 8 to 10 people. The chart table is also located forward on the starboard side. The saloon is directly connected to the two cockpits on the main deck, creating a very large space. The service and crew areas are located forward, with the galley, crew quarters and four double cabins with en-suite bathrooms for the crew.
