Patrick Moreau is a knotter. He works on many boats as a rigger, having specialized in the world of classic yachts. After having published several works on knots (books and videos) including the"b.a. ba des n?uds marins" (Glénat) presented here, he launches this time a book dedicated to decorative knots.

Rather than making his subjects in photos, he once again called on the draftsman Jean-Benoît Héron. The advantage of the design (compared to the photo) is that the knotting is well insulated. No element distracts the gaze. The string is well emphasized.

On the other hand, this is remarkable work on the part of the draftsman. To realize these drawings with so much detail, he simply redid all the knots proposed by Patrick Moreau. One by one, step by step, he took it one step at a time. So the details and precision do not deceive. Even if it is about drawing, one feels that the knotting is clean and real. Hats off to the artist!

The book contains about ten decorative knots, flat or in volume. But as the author says, who has tried in his texts to be as didactic as possible:"it is a beginning to explain the principles of the knots, but the enthusiast can then, if he has understood the principle, develop them to infinity The sailor's decoration could therefore be a source of inspiration for future rope lovers!

With its glued square back and heavyweight paper, the book is pleasant to flip through. On sale for 15 €, it is necessary to underline the will of Glénat Editions to spread this knowledge to as many people as possible. Do not hesitate for yourself or to offer.
