After its return in September 2015, Under The Pole will sail again on 20 May 2017. Still led by Ghislain and Emmanuelle Bardout, still on board of their schooner the Why This new expedition will last 3 years with a first year spent in Greenland, then the crossing of the North West Passage before arriving in the Pacific and the visit of the tropical zones. The last season will take place in the Arctic.

Once again it will be a matter of diving deep under the ice, but also of carrying out scientific research on the mesophotic zone, located at a moderately illuminated depth between the surface and the deep sea. Numerous experiments will be carried out with the hundred or so scientists who will be on board.

While during the first expedition which lasted 21 months, Robin, the son of Ghislain and Emmanuelle was on board (he was then 3 years old), this time he will leave with his little brother Tom born between the 2 departures (1 year old). The two children will be the ambassadors to pass on the discoveries to the children within the framework of a partnership set up with the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research.

Given the quality video and photo reports of the first expedition, we can be sure that the result of this new expedition, if not the scientific expectation, should at least fill us with wonder.
