Under The Pole returns to Concarneau

After 21 months in Greenland, the Under the Pole expedition is back in France. The schooner Why is expected in Concarneau on September 26. This is the opportunity for these adventurers to announce a 52 mm book and documentary.

Under The Pole, what is it? At the head of this group of people, a couple Emmanuelle Périé and Ghislain Bardoux who are not on their first try. Under The Pole was launched as part of a first expedition to discover the underside of the ice at the North Pole. In love with wide open spaces, the couple on their return met navigator Roland Jourdain. A meeting that allowed us to set up a second expedition this time with a sailboat. : the schooner Why. A 19.50 m aluminium dinghy designed by Jean Pierre Brouns.

Built for the occasion, this sailboat served as a base camp to explore the underwater environment under the ice. While the core crew consists of a dozen people - including Robin 3 years old, son of Emmanuelle and Ghislain, humorously named responsible for the awakening on board - many scientists have followed one another on board to participate in surveys of the local fauna and flora.

It is therefore over 21 months, including a wintering in the ice, and during more than 400 dives that this whole team took the time to get to know the country well. And for our greatest pleasure, the images they bring back are breathtaking..

Come to Concarneau on Saturday, September 26 at 2 p.m. on the Explore pontoon to share the crew's joy at a conference and to discover the beautiful 190-page book published by Editions Ulmer, which recounts in pictures all this expedition.
