Marine toilets, the future is electric

As a specialist in this field, the company SFA offers electric toilets for boats under its Sanimarin brand. In order to get as close as possible to "home-like" comfort, the mentality on the presence of electric toilets is changing and they are increasingly finding their place on board.

The use of toilets at sea is not necessarily natural. When placed below the waterline, a pump must be activated to discharge waste into the holding tank. Unlike at home, where evacuation is very often by gravity (downwards), the flush of a marine toilet must often discharge upwards, hence the need to pump.

Why not go electric?

In this case, the pump is electric and automates the whole flushing process. Simply press a button and the system automatically flushes the toilet, just like at home!

SFA, well known for its Sanibroyeurs on the domestic market for 60 years, offers the same system for boats. With Sanimarin, electric toilets grind up all excrement and discharge only liquid. The pump is capable of lifting up to 3 m high and 30 m horizontally. This is ideal for black water tanks, which don't need to be installed next to the toilet, but can be placed wherever there's space on the boat. What's more, managing a tank containing only liquid is much easier.

What's your power consumption?

On board a boat where energy is at a premium, the power consumption of toilets is always a scary thought. However, Sanimarin models consume very little. In fact, an "eco" cycle lasts just 8 seconds, with a power consumption of 0.007 Ah per second.

Replacing manual toilets

By offering a model with the same base as manual toilets, Sanimarin's Maxlite can be adapted without having to modify the boat or drill additional holes. All that's required is an electrical supply where the control panel (the flush system) is installed. The toilet is replaced in less than 2 hours, and the very affordable purchase price (456 euros incl. VAT) includes everything from the seawater pump to the toilet bowl.
