Secret / Wally 93, a bold new cruise race to discover

Wally 93

The Wally 93 is the latest addition to the Wally class, a 28.30m racing-cruising yacht designed for both racing and cruising. Thus, it will be high-performance, but with an innovative design. Delivery is scheduled for summer 2018.

Wally, the Monegasque brand of custom sailboats, unveils the first images of its new racing-cruising yacht, the Wally 93. This 28.30 m sailboat has been designed for a Wally owner who is passionate about racing. This sailing yacht benefits from the brand's latest hull lines, with a distinctive very wide stern and large interior volumes. All these features are the result of the latest generation of racing cruisers, super fast and very comfortable, for high performance sailing. The launch is scheduled for summer 2018, with debuts at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup 2018.

"The Wally 93 fully reflects Wally's DNA to combine exceptional cruising capabilities with outstanding performance. In addition, the deck is ultra-clean with huge living spaces. It's so beautiful you fall in love with it at first sight!" describes Luca Bassani, founder and president of Wally.

This new custom-made yacht reflects Wally's signature and Judel Vrolijk's naval architecture. "The Wally 93 benefits from the experience of Open Season, leader of the Wally class and the Maxi72s, winners of the last three Maxi72 world championships, all designed by Judel Vrolijk.

The Wally 93 is very light and powerful with a displacement of only 35.5 tons and an even more powerful sail area/displacement ratio than the Wallycentos!" bassani adds.

Weights are centred amidships to minimize pitching. The lifting keel allows the draught to be increased from 4.5 m to 6.2 m to increase the reach of the upwind righting moment.

"A Wally is the perfect synthesis between a high-performance cruising yacht and a competitive racing yacht. This new design is simplified for the Wally Class circuit, which is the most competitive competition for high-performance cruising yachts in the Mediterranean.

Very powerful upwind with the same draft as the Wallycento, the Wally 93 will be able to maintain its trajectory after the start, on the first tack upwind.

The performance is optimised for light to medium conditions: the yacht will have the ability to start surfing in 16 knots of wind, and will easily be able to surpass the true wind speed" explains Rolf Vrolijk of Judel Vrolijk & Co, who is responsible for the naval architecture of the Wally 93.

The Wally 93 introduces a new deck style that camouflages the central cockpit and coamings, resembling a flush deck with numerous living areas, free from manoeuvring. The saloon is more intimate than in the standard layout as it is separated from the companionway by a wall.

From this airlock, one also has access to the crew quarters, the guest cabins and the galley. Owners' privacy is also enhanced with one cabin located forward of the saloon, while the two guest cabins are located aft. The interior style is being developed with an innovative concept.

This new Wally 93 is already under construction using the most advanced composite technology to ensure light weight and increased rigidity.

The materials used are the same as those used on the America's Cup boats: high modulus unidirectional carbon fibre, CNC female carbon fibre mould.
