How to approach the sailboats of the 2016 Vendée Globe in Les Sables-d'Olonne?

To see the sailboats and skippers of the Vendée Globe 2016, you can go to the pontoon or watch the incredible party - an intense moment of emotion - as they sail up the channel in Les Sables-d'Olonne. Some lucky people will also try to take their boat out to sea. Here are some indications on how to enjoy the party without disturbing it.

If you are lucky enough to go to Les Sables-d'Olonne, you can visit the village inaugurated on Saturday, October 15, 2016. The pontoon on which the 29 sailboats that will take the start on Sunday, November 6, 2016 are moored is in free access. The sailboats are moored on each side. A direction of circulation fluidifies the visit.

The boats are moored according to their registration date. Thus PRB has the first place, because it registered first. It is also in this reverse order that the boats will leave the pontoon. In a very timed ballet (television obliges!) the boats will cast off every 4 minutes from 8:50 am.

If you want to go out to sea to see the start from your boat

On November 6, 2016, between 08:30 and 11:15, the channel will be closed to navigation. Once outside, you will have to respect the navigation zones. Depending on the size of your boat (more or less than 7m) you will have to keep your distance from the starting area.
