Suzuki, a step ahead for the counter-rotation of outboard subbases

Suzuki 150 and 175 hp

Suzuki launches its new 150 and 175. Two electrically controlled 4-stroke outboard motors capable of managing counter-rotation without changing the base plate.

Suzuki announces 2 new powers in its outboard range: 150 and 175 hp. These powers were already present, but are now equipped with the so-called Selective Rotation base.

This system, which has already been installed on high power units, allows the same base to be used regardless of the direction of rotation of the propeller. It is only the motor control, an electric control, that determines the direction of rotation. The base plate has identical bearings to support the full load in either direction. The other brands have different bases that are adapted according to the desired direction of rotation.

There is great interest for Suzuki dealers who can store the same engine without having to supply several subbases. Ditto in case of mechanical problems for parts that are similar to all engines. Finally, in the event of resale of the motor, it can be adapted to suit all rotations.

With a range now ranging from 150 to 300 hp with this type of base, Suzuki is able to meet all dual-engine requirements.

Technically, these new engines are 4-stroke 4 cylinders with a capacity of 2.9 litres. They are supplied by a multipoint injection. The intake distribution is variable (ATV system) to shift the engine torque to give it more fishing from low revs.

Last but not least, these motors are now equipped with wireless contact. The key can remain in the pocket when the ignition is turned on. As long as the ignition is on, even if the key falls into the water (it is watertight and floats) or if it disembarks from the boat, the engine can still be started (as long as the ignition has not been turned off). Be careful, this key is not a circuit breaker. The circuit-breaker bracelet remains mandatory!

Suzuki took advantage of the launch of these 2 new engines to renew their decoration with a new marking and a new black tint (nicknamed the Pearl Nebular). The rest of the range will evolve with this new design.
