Open C Cat 550 and 470, the new plywood catamarans

Open C Yachts announces the launch of the Open C Cat 550 and 470. Lightweight displacement and fine finishes for "quiet luxury".

A proven plan, revisited for Europe

As is often the case with Open C Yachts, the brand's new yachts are based on existing catamarans designed by the South African architect Dudley Dix. In order to propose the most adapted sailing boat to the French demands, Open C Yachts has reworked the plans with the architect. While keeping a proven hull, the interiors have been revised to meet European standards.

Large catamarans for fast and comfortable cruises

The catamaran offers a spacious central platform as well as two cabins and 1 shower/toilet in each hull. An owner's suite is available as an option. The large spaces allow for long distance cruising.

The shallow draft and the choice between sabre daggerboards and mini-keels allow the boat to be adapted to its program, according to the expectations in performance and accessibility to anchorages.

The Open C Cat 470 is a shortened version of the Open C Cat 550, while keeping the same headroom.

The CP Epoxy is a good compromise between weight, price and manufacturing

While production monohulls are selling well, epoxy plywood catamarans are almost absent from the market. Open C is responding to this demand. The new Open C Cat are made in epoxy CP construction with the "rounded" chine technique, which allows an optimized hull shape.

It offers a light boat with only 12.5 tons of light displacement announced for the 55 feet, which is much less than a classic production boat. Performance should therefore be at the rendezvous, at a price contained according to Thomas Duhen, founder of Open C below 1 M euros for the 55 feet.
