Commuter 25, the new Nordic walk-around

Arctic Boat's Commuter 25 is a new walk-around star, presented in January 2016 at the Düsseldorf Boot in the same year. The brand is arriving in France through its official dealer Sail Passion, and the boat will be available for testing from July. Discovery of this 8.5m boat, coming from the cold, robust and efficient.

The history of the building site

For the record, in 2004, after two years of research, the first Commuters were born. These all-weather, high-performance boats quickly established themselves in Norway under the ASKELADDEN brand name. In 2014, a consortium will buy the production rights and the brand from the family shipyard. The boats are then rethought and redesigned: new design and layout, new materials and new technologies. The range of engines has also been extended and new electronic systems have appeared on board the boats.

Thus was born the new Artic brand with two completely redesigned models - the 8 m and the 11 m - and with new names: the Commuter 25 and the Commuter 35.

While the Commuter 25 will enter the French market in the summer of 2016, the arrival of the Commuter 35 will have to wait until the autumn of 2016. A 33-footer will also come out this summer, but will be intended for rather professional use.

A robust and powerful walk-around

The Commuter 25 is an 8.5m walk-around cruiser with a modern design and lines that confirm her Nordic conception: high bulwarks, omnipresent handrails, fully secured cockpit, high and enclosed cabin..

The roof is fully glazed which brings a lot of light and allows a 360° view. Sliding side doors give direct access to the cockpit and allow ventilation of the boat, as does the sunroof. Another door located at the stern gives access to the cockpit. The latter is fully secured with a closed door that accesses the bathing platform.

Inside, there is a berth at the bow (below deck) with sleeping accommodation for 2 people, as well as a small toilet. The helm station is on the starboard side with a shock absorbing chair (a second chair is located on the port side). The rest of the cabin is summarily (but comfortably) equipped with two side benches. This converts into a bed to accommodate 2 people - one on each bench seat.

The hull is made in infusion with a very important thickness and is surrounded by a "fender" protection on the back with a height of 30 cm.

The Commuter 25 can be equipped with several single or twin-engine inboard or outboard engines for power between 225 and 500 HP with a top speed of 50 knots.

The Commuter 25 remains a powerful, robust and powerful boat capable of tackling all conditions at sea. Briefly fitted out, it has all the elements of comfort for a weekend at sea, but its lack of sunbathing makes it a boat more dedicated to fishing, diving or simply leisure activities thanks to its manoeuvrability and speed.
