The 2016 Nauticalales, the sailboats we didn't miss

35,000 visitors in La Ciotat, 500 boats exhibited Despite a two-week delay to take advantage of a little more daylight and especially of summer time, spring was a little late during the Nauticales. But the desire to sail is there!

First boat show afloat of the season (although Les Nautiques de Port Camargue, specialist in second-hand boats, was held a week earlier), The Nauticales is ranked 4 ème French event of its kind after Paris, La Rochelle and Cannes. Sponsored by Olympic pole vaulting champion Jean Galfione âeuros now a top-level sailor who intends to enter the Route du Rhum 2018, this show is an opportunity for sailing enthusiasts based in the Mediterranean to discover afloat most of the latest novelties (few this year for sailing) and the production of major shipyards âeuros Bénéteau, Jeanneau, Dufour, Bavaria, Hanse, Dehler, Structures ... Since last year, the organizers âeuros they are the same as those of the Grand Pavois de La Rochelle âeuros have put the package for the boats to sail. The exhibitors who wish to do so benefit from a U-shaped pontoon layout and gangways in order to be able to reach the open water as soon as the mooring lines are cast off. Despite a date postponed by two weeks, the Mediterranean weather proved to be once again capricious, with a wet eastern weather as a starterâeuros¦ yet, we are told every year, there are 300 days of sunshine per year that heat the metal of the cranes of the shipyards of La Ciotat! And the visitors, from Wednesday, April 6, took good advantage of itâeuros¦

The sailboats we didn't miss :

Elan E4, A stylish design

New names at Elan, with the E series (light racing-cruise) and S series (regatta without concessions), and for this E4 one of the first âeuros presentation afloat in any case. A beautiful hull served by a T-shaped ballast and two rudders, very well finished accommodations and a host of tricks such as the rear beam that becomes a gangway, the adjustable footbraces for the helmsman, the lowered door sill, the integrated cockpit tableâeuros¦

We also note the six âeuros winches no less âeuros and the doors, narrow indeed, but soundproofed by a seal. On the deck, a German-style mainsheet listening circuit and a listening bar at the bottom of the cockpit. As far as speed is concerned, the fleeces promise a speed of 10 knots on the open sea in 20 knots of wind. Enough to have funâeuros¦ And innovation is also on the agenda with an optional electric motorization.

Gemini Legacy 35, American cata of life

Great premiere in France for this great American classic âeuros familiar with the Miami Boat Show rather than La Ciotat. Think, the exposed model carries the numberâeuros¦ 1 218! The Gemini shipyard exists since 1981 and produces very classic catamarans. The Legacy 35 is indeed characterized by a relative narrowness âeuros 4.26 m only âeuros so as to fit into a place usually dedicated to a monohull. (read the article: Gemini Legacy 35, another way to see the catamaran )

On the deck, this size translates into very narrow side decks compared to those of the French productions and a hard front deck â?" no trampolines. On the other hand, the accommodation does not suffer so much from the reduced width thanks to the nacelle which overhangs the hulls. Only the starboard front berth of the three-cabin version is narrowed to only 1.08 m wide. Light and moderately canvased, the Legacy 35 is not very demanding to handle.

The sailboat that we almost missed:

Hanse 315, Better late than never!

Not really a novelty since we discovered it in Cannes last September and especially since the smallest of the Hanse has already been honored by the nautical press âeuros it was just elected Boat of the Year in Düsseldorf. We would have liked to find her, this all-purpose cruiser which has everything of a great boat âeuros in addition to being frankly elegant âeuros but this damn East wind forced her skipper-convoyeur to turn back during her delivery from Port-Camargue. The 315 the white one âeuros we preferred the blue livery of the Cannes model - arrived on Wednesday, April 6, that is to say in the middle of this show âeuros the Nauticales last nine days, ça helps!
