Transat Jacques Vabre, the duo Thierry Bouchard and Olivier Krauss on the trimaran Ciela Village

Thierry Bouchard and Olivier Krauss are used to sailing in Class40 and are faithful crew members. By participating in the Transat Jacques Vabre in the Multi50 category, they hope to reach the podium.

The skippers

Thierry Bouchard is a company director with a passion for competition and sailing. He has dedicated many years of his sporting career to high-level competition in Mumm 30s and has participated in numerous regattas: ten Tour de France à la Voile (once winner, three times runner-up), eight transatlantic races, six times winner of the SNIM in Mumm 30s.

But after ten years of racing in Mumm 30s, he lost his motivation and needed a change of pace. He discovered the Class40 in 2007, when he participated in the Transat Jacques Vabre, where he finished 10th. In 2009, he invested in a new generation Akilaria RC2 and raced the Route du Rhum with it, finishing 11th e position. That same year, he won the Class40 runner-up title. In 2014, he tried again in Class40, but was forced to abandon due to a broken wrist.

From now on, it is on another support that we find him. He has bought the Muti50 Maître Jacques trimaran this winter, which he has renamed Ciela Village and which will have two new floats. This will be his first offshore race aboard his trimaran.

Olivier Krauss is a shipyard manager. Born in Germany, he arrived in France at the age of nine and discovered sailing, in Optimist. He participated in two seasons of competition and at the age of 12, took the helm of a 420. In 1992, he finished 5th e of the French championships, with his teammate.

He then did a season in 470 before turning to keelboats. He discovered the Tour de France à la Voile in 1999 and participated in it 5 times, until 2003. He also participated in the Mumm30 and Melges 24 circuits. At the same time, he continued his studies in STAPS. At the end of 2003, he won the Challenge Espoir and then succeeded Gwenaël Riou at the helm of the Figaro Bénéteau 2 in the colors of Crédit Agricole du Finistère.

Olivier has since sailed a lot in Class40 with Thierry Bouchard.
