The Hermione parade for the American National Day

The Hermione reached New York on July 1 for four days of celebration. The highlight of her stopover was the great naval parade on the 4th of July, where she was the guest of honor.

Moving arrival in New York

The Hermione arrived in New York City on July 1 for the American Fourth of July holiday. She reached her dock at Pier 15 South Street Seaport Museum in the Big Apple in absolute silence. Dressed for the occasion in their period costumes, the men and women of the crew enjoyed this highly symbolic arrival. Before reaching its anchorage, the frigate sailed through the New York bay: Verrazano Bridge, Statue of Liberty and Manhattan.

Benedict Donnelly, president of the Hermione-La Fayette Association, spoke at the event. "This image of the Hermione in New York in front of the Statue of Liberty, we had been waiting for more than twenty years. It was even more beautiful than we had imagined. Each of us, in New York and in France, lived these moments intensely. I have immense gratitude for all those who helped us to be in New York today."

The Hermione left the "Big Apple" on Sunday, July 5, to reach Greenport.
