Creation of the Confederation of Boating and Yachting

This Wednesday, June 3rd, the French Nautical Industries Federation publicly announced the creation of the Confederation of Nautical Industries and Yachting.

To gather all the actors of the nautical industry under the same banner

Bringing together the federations, clubs and associations of yachting and boating, this confederation has its origin in the mobilization of the yachting community against the project of the mooring tax. By bringing together the major nautical bodies, the Confederation of boating and yachting will allow to speak and mobilize on behalf of all, but also to participate in the debates of the maritime community. Today, it represents 7.5 million boaters. Among them, there are 3 million regular boaters (through clubs, associations or sports federations), including 900,000 licensed boaters and 4.5 million occasional boaters, for whom boating is above all a leisure activity. The Confederation also includes 5,000 companies, which employ 40,000 people and 570 marinas.

Continue to mobilize

The creation of this Confederation will allow the mobilization to continue, but under a single banner. Already, the nautical community has come to the end of this tax project a first time. Indeed, the elected officials and senators have removed the tax project, but it must be examined one last time by the National Assembly. Today, the Confédération du Nautisme et de la Plaisance asks the deputies to confirm the decision of the senators and to put an end to the mooring tax.

A survey of the nautical industry has already revealed the negative effects of the tax. Even though it is not yet in force. 80% of the companies surveyed already feel a negative impact on their business and anticipate a 30% drop in their turnover. Marine rental companies, particularly those in Corsica, are reporting a 50% drop in bookings for the 2015 summer season.

The Confédération du Nautisme et de la Plaisance wishes to participate actively in the reflections and choices on the Blue Growth, on the enhancement, the protection and the development of marine protected areas, on the sharing of the uses of the coastal and deep-sea space, on the attractiveness of our coasts and on the regional policies in favor of the Nautical Industry. The Confédération du Nautisme et de la Plaisance intends to be a major actor of the great debates of the maritime community and a force of proposal in the framework of the next regional elections.
