The six crews of the Volvo Ocean Race are now less than 500 miles (804 km) from the finish in Lisbon. And less than 6 miles separate the 3 leaders. Arrival expected in about 24 hours.

On this 7 e During the stage between Newport and Lisbon, the fleet remained quite compact and this is still the case with 24 hours to go. The first three boats âeuros Team Brunel in the lead, followed by MAPFRE and Dongfeng âeuros have only a few miles between them.

Team Brunel is only 4.9 miles behind MAPFRE, which is itself 0.8 miles ahead of Dongfeng Race Team. The latter is doing its best to keep up with Team Brunel, but has lost several miles in the last 24 hours.

The wind has been gradually strengthening over the last twelve hours, which favors the leaders. Team Brunel is 27.4 miles away from Team Brunel. However, they will be the first to encounter the weakening winds in less than 200 miles. The fleet will be compressed again before arriving in Lisbon. On the final route, there will be no big maneuvers to expect and the wind will be stable. So we will have to compete with ingenuity and find the right settings to go the fastest. In the meantime, all the boat crews are equipped with binoculars to observe the competitorsâ?¦ We will have to be strong and believe in this victory, which looks more than close.
