This Saturday, April 18, the Volvo Ocean Race In-Port race took place in Itajaí, Brazil. Team Brunel won the race and took the first place in the overall In-Port ranking.

The weak winds put the course of the In-Port race into question. With less than 3 knots on the wind gauge, the start was more than uncertain. Finally, the race direction decided to delay the race by 10 minutes, but the 6 boats were able to take the start. MAPFRE, whose technical team had worked all night on the mast, was able to participate in the race. Dongfeng was also present, as it had announced.

At the start of the race, it was the girls from Team SCA who took the lead of the fleet. Neck and neck with Abu Dhabi, they arrived first at the first mark. In a light wind, both boats sailed the second lap side by side. Eventually, Abu Dhabi managed to regain the lead, but the wind dropped completely, causing the fleet to stop moving forward. The girls were forced to do a 360° penalty and lost their second place.

In the end, it was the Dutch, led by Bouwe Bekking, who won the In-Port. Abu Dhabi Racing takes 2nd place e followed by Dongfeng Race Team. Next is Team SCA, MAPFRE, and finally Team Alvimedica.
