Discover the new offshore cruiser from Wauquiez

Wauquiez, a specialist in modern and luxurious cruising yachts, presents its new model, the Pilot Saloon 48, which will be on display at the Cannes Yachting Festival next September. It embodies the new generation of the "Pilot Saloon" range.

The Pilot Saloon concept was launched in 1990 with the Pilot Saloon 60, to offer yachts for all sailing programs, combining comfort, light and performance. Following the launch of the 40 and 55-foot models, some 350 units are now sailing all over the world. Today, Wauquiez celebrates its 50th anniversary with a new ocean-going model that brings together all the shipyard's expertise, the Pilot Saloon 48 .

A high-performance, robust ocean-going sailboat

Like all models in the range, the Pilot Saloon 48 has an oblong deckhouse with pronounced edges, giving good visibility forward. The deck layout is uncluttered thanks to the flush deck hatches and the return of the headers to the cockpit. The large side windows, highlighted by a natural teak stave âeuros signature of the Pilot Saloon âeuros range, have been extended aft to provide optimum visibility and bring more light on board. Opening portholes provide interior ventilation. The hull features 4 rectangular portholes.

The hull was designed by Berret-Racoupeau Yacht-Design and is suitable for the most demanding sailing conditions. Equipped with a bulb keel and a 2.10 m draft, the Pilot Saloon 48 is a stiff boat under sail, with high performance in all points of sail. Two draft options are available: 1.85 m and 2.30 m. The aft skirt transforms into a large bathing platform and provides access to the tender garage.

The helm station has been designed for short-handed sailing. The winches are positioned close to the helmsman, the mainsheet in "German System" returns to the cockpit winch, and a self-tacking track can be integrated (optional). Two lockers and access to the tender garage are located at the helm station. Last but not least, two retractable footbraces provide added stability and sailing comfort. The mast measures 19.60 m, and the rigging is 9/10 with pushpit spreaders requiring no runners. Roll-bar and bimini options are available.

A spacious interior

The saloon has been raised to meet the concept of a "true deck saloon" and provide maximum light. The volumes on board have been optimized to provide comfortable living spaces in the compact space of the Pilot Saloon 48. A fully equipped galley extends to port.

As with all Wauquiez models, the interior is mainly waxed teak. The owner's cabin is quite large. Located at the stern of the boat, it is equipped with a desk and a bathroom with separate shower. The room is bright and airy, with opening hatches for ventilation. Storage space is provided throughout the room, and the berth can be raised on jacks to access a large storage area.

The bow of the boat houses two double cabins and two bathrooms with white synthetic marble basins. The cabin has a large double berth (2x1.60 m), while the side cabin has bunk beds.

Two layout versions are available:

Standard version aft owner's cabin, forward VIP cabin and starboard side cabin with bunk beds.

Another possible version : forward owner's cabin, aft starboard VIP cabin and aft port side cabin with bunk beds.
