The American manufacturer Gunboat has designed a little marvel: the G4. 12.14 m long and 6.78 wide, the G4 is the first habitable catamaran equipped with foils. He will be able to glide and reach the impressive speed of 40 knots! All carbon, it weighs only 2.4 tons.
Its design was entrusted to the Dutch team DNA, known in particular for having designed the catamaran DNA A-Class With 12 knots of wind, the designers estimate that the G4 will be able to reach a speed of 18 knots.
Many adjustments will be possible while sailing to maintain balance at the helm, such as the quest for the mast. The daggerboards are C-shaped, and the asymmetrical foils can be reduced by up to 7 degrees over the maximum lift.
Like the rest of the Gunboat range, this true cruiser, like the rest of the Gunboat range, is also distinguished by its cabin with a very comfortable layout: two queen-size beds and two singles
The first hulls have just come out of the mussels and the boat will be launched for the 2015 season. A small toy that will probably not be accessible to all budgets...
A new model is already under study at Gunboat: the G7, a catamaran which should measure 70 feet and take up the innovations of the Gunboat 55.
