Costa Cruises christened its new cruise ship, the Costa Diadema, this Friday, November 7 in Genoa. This latest addition is the largest ship in the fleet with its 306 meters long and 61 meters high. It can accommodate 4947 passengers (1862 cabins) and 1,253 crew members. Its interior is designed in the purest Italian style and the ship is a true ambassador of the country with the boot by its gastronomy, its architecture, its decoration but also its entertainment. Conceived by architect Joseph Farcus, who has been working with Costa Crociere since 2000, the design of the Costa Diadema invites passengers to dream. The ship's interior is even more spacious, welcoming and modern than its predecessors. This futuristic ship wonderfully recreates the atmosphere of a Mediterranean seaside resort. It will offer one-week cruises departing from Marseille starting November 9.
The greatest of all walks
This giant liner has the longest promenade of all Costa Cruises ships: 500 meters of open air seafront to enjoy a direct view of the ocean. Passengers can also enjoy the bars and restaurants and admire the two large glass mosaics "Riviera Ligure" by artist Roberto Bixio.
Art everywhere on the Costa Diadema
7,874 works of art and design will adorn the Costa Diadema, all sharing the concept of royalty. 41 artists including sculptors, painters, photographers, graphic artists, architects and designers were chosen to produce works inspired by contemporary pop culture and the artistic tradition of the Italian Renaissance.
Focus on entertainment
The Costa Diadema will feature many new features and entertainment for both young and old: new shows, video games and the latest generation of simulators. StarLaser will be a new high-tech venue that will offer interactive laser games. A spa on three levels, a gym and a typical "Italian resort" terrace will also allow relaxation and pleasure.
Italian gastronomy one of the pillars of the Costa Diadema
On the Costa Diadema, the emphasis will be on gastronomy: beer bar, Italian wine bar, bar to enjoy Italian aperitifs but also pizzeria and Italian ice cream parlour will allow you to immerse yourself in the Italian culture.
