SeaforYou, nautical application to share information between boaters

Created by Laurent Guézou, a passionate sailor, the application for smartphone and tablet, SeaforYou, allows boaters to exchange data on an interactive map.

Supporting mutual aid between boaters

The SeaforYou application was born from a simple observation: the lack of modern communication media to exchange between sailors. This close-knit community can now exchange, via their smartphones or tablets, advice, information, opinions, weather reports or even requests for help, in real time. Indeed, the information is geolocalized and directly retransmitted on an interactive map, shared by all. This application also allows boaters to get in touch with other nearby boaters. To consult a piece of information in real time, simply click on the pictogram and all the content will be displayed.

SeaforYou received the "Nautisme Tourisme" innovation award at the Planète E-commerce 2014 exhibition in Brittany.

The founder, Laurent Guézou, explains "I worked for a long time on the design. The service for sea lovers had to be simple, practical and adapted to the interests of sea lovers. A mobile application of "instant messaging" was an obvious choice, since we are dealing with issues of immediacy, of proximity information, for mobile users. The mobile network operates up to 10 nautical miles from the coast and covers 95% of sailing, mainly coastal (within the regulatory 6-mile band) .

He adds "This type of service already exists for other communities (Waze for car drivers for example) but nothing is yet proposed to boaters. At the moment, they only have VHF and not everyone is equipped with it. SeaforYou is the extension of "radio pontoon" in coastal navigation, of this benevolence and this solidarity which exists between boaters!
