Advantages of the Jon boat
Easy to transport and launch
The first advantage of the Jon Boat is that it's easy to transport, whether on the roof of a car or in the bed of a pick-up truck for smaller models, or on a small trailer for longer models.
Thanks to its size and lightness, the Jon Boat is very easy to launch, even for a single person.

Another good point is that, thanks to its modest size and light weight, the boat doesn't require much power. A small outboard motor or even an electric motor is all that's needed to get it moving.
Easy maintenance
As their design is fairly basic, maintenance is limited to a good cleaning and not much more. On aluminum models, you can sometimes straighten the bottom or side a little if you've hit a rock, and for the rest, practically nothing.
A boat that fits everywhere
The flat bottom of Jon boats means they can be used almost anywhere, even in less than a foot of water. Ideal for catching certain fish, duck hunting, but also for beaching and disembarking easily.

A very affordable boat
Easy to build and modest in size, these boats are logically very affordable. Some models are offered for a few hundred dollars without motor, but for a complete package (boat + motor), you'll need to budget between $1,500 and $35,000, depending on size, material and motorization.
