The Hypersail project is based on a 30-meter monohull designed for ocean sailing, with a configuration combining foils, a canting keel and on-board power generation.
A 30-meter monohull equipped with foils and a canting keel
Unlike AC75-type units, this yacht retains a canting keel. In practice, the boat alternates between partial flight and hull-supported sailing, depending on sea state and wind intensity.
The exterior shapes are the result of work on air and water flows. The roof and deck feature continuous lines to limit disturbance. Volumes are adjusted to channel flows around the mast and cockpit. This approach aims to reduce aerodynamic drag at high speeds. On board, these shapes impose defined circulation zones, with surfaces that are sometimes inclined.
A control system to manage foils under sail
The source of much discussion within the Ultim class, the Hypersail will use servo-control to control its foils. The operation of the foils is based on an on-board control system. Sensors continuously measure speed, trim and force. This data is used to adjust the position of the appendages to maintain a balance between lift and stability.
Solar panels integrated into deck and hull surfaces
Solar panels are integrated into the deck and sides. Their location depends on the exposure during navigation. These surfaces are designed to be easy to walk on. They receive an anti-slip treatment and fastening systems adapted to marine constraints. The energy produced powers the on-board systems. It supplements the energy generated by the wind and the boat's motion.
