Société Nautique de Marseille celebrates 60 years of Snim from April 3 to 6, 2026. Over 100 crews are expected in the southern harbor for this benchmark IRC regatta in the Mediterranean. Justine Mettraux, first woman in the last Vendée Globe, will be the godmother.

Sixty editions, thousands of races raced in the southern harbor and a well-established reputation in the IRC calendar. From April 3 to 6, 2026, the Semaine Nautique Internationale de la Méditerranée, or Snim for sailors, will celebrate its 60th anniversary in Marseille. An edition marked by the presence of Justine Mettraux as godmother.

Justine Mettraux, an offshore career

Born in Geneva in 1986, Justine Mettraux first made a name for herself in Figaro racing, before going on to win major ocean races with a crew. She has twice won The Ocean Race, demonstrating her versatility and endurance.

Her most notable feat remains the Vendée Globe 2024 2025. For her first participation, she finished 8th overall and first woman to the finish, with a time of 76 days, becoming the fastest female sailor in the history of the event. This performance earned her the title of Rolex World Sailor of the Year for women in 2025.

His current program is already focused on building a new, latest-generation IMOCA for the next Vendée Globe, while continuing his commitment to major ocean races.

The Snim remains a Grade 3 event counting towards the Mediterranean IRC Duo and Crew championships. It is open to IRC 0, 1, 2, 3, duos and one-design fleets.

The main race will involve IRC 0 to 3 and duos, depending on weather conditions. The courses are a combination of inshore and constructed races, on a race course renowned for its technical nature. In Marseille's southern harbor, site effects, thermal variations and tilts require a fine reading of the race course.

Over 100 crews are expected. The one-design line-up promises to be very strong, particularly in the J70 class, with a view to the Corinthian J70 World Championship to be held in Marseille in May 2026. One of the stated objectives is to enable teams to sail boats that comply perfectly with the rules.
