An extension planned for 2028 to accommodate more teams, sailboats and nautical industries
The Lorient Laâeuros¯Base site, on the site of the former Keroman submarine base (Morbihan), confirms its status as a world reference for ocean racing. With over a kilometer of pontoons already dedicated to ocean-going yachts and the entire associated nautical industry, the Lorient urban area is about to embark on a major new expansion phase: between now and 2028, some 800 and 840 linear meters of additional pontoons will be installed to double the dockâ??s capacity.

A site that's saturated but booming
Over the past twenty years, the conversion of the military base into a nautical hub has been crowned with success: Ultim class trimarans, IMOCA monohulls, Class40s, Miniâeuros¯6.50s, all categories are represented on this training and preparation site. This abundance of boats has necessitated extensive infrastructure: specialized pontoons, careening areas, hangars, highâeurostech companies, sailmakers, etc.
But this success story has its limits: the site is "âeuros¯Ã l'étroitâeuros¯", requiring an increase in capacity to remain competitive. The investment announced (around 12 to 13âeuros¯millions euros) bears witness to this ambition.
An extension designed for tall ships and professional teams

The extension project includes not only additional pontoons, but also moorings adapted to very large racing monohulls and multihulls, breakwater pontoons and heavy catways capable of accommodating peak units. The new facilities will also allow for the integration of more companies, technical teams and services linked to ocean racing and high-end marine activities.
