The gaps are closing among protos
Thanks to a more favorable tack, Mathis seems to be exploiting a better angle to windward, while Benoît seems to be momentarily penalized on one tack, no doubt constrained by a less effective angle or a less optimized sail configuration on that tack.

In today's rankings, Benoit is 36 miles ahead of Mathis. This gap could melt away quickly if conditions remain favorable to the Swiss skipper, who has neither a medium spinnaker nor foils on his boat. However, Benoit is sure to rely on his mental strength and all his experience to ensure a fine finish.
Behind them, Alexandre Demange (DMG Mori Sailing Academy 2) completes the provisional podium, more than 150 miles away, while Julian Letissier (Ferrots Branchet) continues to play it safe.
Paul Cousin keeps the upper hand in the Series

On the Série boats' side, Paul Cousin (AFP âeuros Biocombustibles) is still leading the way, even if his speed of 8.6 knots seems modest compared with his pursuers. Joshua Schopfer (Mingulay) and Quentin Mocudet (Saveurs et Délices) are only 34 and 44 miles behind, respectively, and both have higher speeds.
The battle for leadership could therefore also come down to the wire in this denser fleet, where the slightest slowdown can be costly.
Arrival expected this weekend
If conditions hold, the first Protos could cross the line as early as Saturday evening or during the night. But nothing's decided yet: the slightest technical glitch or poorly negotiated squall could turn positions upside down. The finish promises to be breathtaking, in keeping with the many twists and turns of this Mini Transat 2025.
