The introduction of two new models, the Windelo 58 and Windelo 62, marks a key step in the evolution of the Catalan shipyard. Driven by a desire to break away from conventional standards, Windelo is developing an offering geared towards sustainable offshore sailing, in collaboration with architect Christophe Barreau and the Stellantis Design Studio.

Platforms designed for long distances
The demand for more autonomous, comfortable catamarans is prompting boatbuilders to reconsider the balance between habitability, performance and carrying capacity. With widths of 9.48 m and lengths of 17.68 m and 18.88 m respectively, the Windelo 58 and 62 give priority to interior and exterior volume without compromising the finesse of the hull lines. Folding appendages and daggerboards optimize upwind performance while facilitating access to shallow waters.

Continuity with Windelo DNA: performance, eco-design and modularity
These two new units continue the philosophy initiated with the Windelo 50 and 54, which share the same hull base. Similarly, the 58 and 62 will be built on a single mold, enabling the shipyard to optimize its production processes while offering two distinct versions adapted to different programs. The same signature: a light, rigid platform, an electric motor and a desire to limit environmental impact. The Windelo 62, in particular, offers increased interior and exterior living space. The fixed aft deck becomes a real living space, while circulation between the various stations has been further improved.

Three versions to suit every need
Like their predecessors, the Windelo 58 and 62 are available in three configurations: Adventure, Yachting and Sport. Each meets specific needs. The Adventure version is aimed at long-distance sailors, with a focus on autonomy, storage and ease of use. The Yachting version focuses on on-board comfort, with enhanced finishes and more comprehensive equipment. Finally, the Sport version is aimed at performance enthusiasts under sail, with an optimized deck layout, reduced weight and fittings designed for fast single-handed or short-handed sailing.

Biosourced composite structure: between performance and environmental awareness
Both models are based on a composite sandwich combining basalt fibers and PET or PVC foam, partially recycled materials. This choice is in line with the environmental approach adopted by the shipyard since its creation in 2019, in partnership with the Mines d'Alès engineering school. The aim is twofold: to reduce the carbon footprint while maintaining structural rigidity and lightness, key elements for performance.

On-board electrification and energy management
Powered electrically, Windelo is designed for maximum energy autonomy. Propulsion is based on two 60 kW electric motors powered by a bank of lithium batteries and a fleet of solar panels on the deck and deckhouse. A diesel generator provides back-up power. The catamarans are also fitted with hydrogenerators for extended cruising autonomy without refuelling.

Ergonomics and smooth on-board circulation
On board, the layout favors fluidity of movement. The advanced cockpit centralizes all maneuvers, facilitating short-handed sailing. The large glass roof, now without pillars, offers a panoramic view, providing permanent visual immersion in the environment. Direct access between cockpit and saloon illustrates the attention paid to ergonomics and life on board during long-distance cruising.

Design driven by use
The exterior lines designed by the Stellantis Design Studio reflect a desire for coherence between aesthetics and function. The interior features a range of customizable ambiences, with a headroom of 2.20 m in the saloon and up to five independent cabins with private bathrooms. The galley, designed as a central space, opens onto a multifunctional saloon, the heart of life on board.

Two models, two positions
The lighter Windelo 58 (18 tons) will stand out for its agility and ability to sail efficiently in as little as 4 knots of wind, thanks in particular to its 129 m² upwind sail plan. The Windelo 62 (22 tons) retains these characteristics, while increasing the available volume and carrying capacity, for circumnavigation programs with family or professional crew. Pricing for the Windelo 58 starts at ?2,100,000 ex VAT, while the Windelo 62 starts at ?2,550,000 ex VAT.

A structuring range
With these two boats, Windelo consolidates a coherent range from 50 to 62 feet. This confirms the shipyard's ambition to offer an alternative in the ocean-going multihull segment. A strategy that could appeal to customers looking for autonomy, energy efficiency and modularity, without sacrificing elegance.
