A demanding race in the North Harbour
From the very first day, the weather conditions made it possible to launch the great race in the North Harbour. The 56 boats entered in IRC 0, 1, 2, 3 and duo classes covered a course of around 54 nautical miles, passing through the Niolon calanque, rounding the island of Planier, reaching a mark off Sanary, before returning to Marseille. At 6:30 pm, the crews of Team Guenifey and Arobas 2 were leading the fleet as they rounded Ile Verte, with the finish scheduled for around 10 pm. âeuros
A variety of routes in the southern harbor
In the southern harbor, the IRC 4s and one-designs started the day with a banana course in 12 knots of westerly wind. A second start was given for a 12-mile coastal race. The public, present on the heights of the Corniche and the Pharo, were able to enjoy the spectacle of the sailboats' departures and evolutions.
A commitment to fair play
The technical measurement committee, headed by Hélène Silve and assisted by Basile Després, carried out controls on land and at sea to ensure fairness between competitors. A dozen boats were checked, reinforcing the participants' confidence in the smooth running of the competition. âeuros
Emblematic figures at the rendezvous
Among the participants, Dominique Tian, aboard the Club Swan 42 Glen Ellen, is using the SNIM as preparation for the Fastnet, scheduled for its 100th edition. The event's patron, Kito de Pavant, is also present, bringing his experience and support to the event.
SNIM 2025 continues until April 21, with favorable weather conditions forecast, including a solid easterly flow on Saturday. âeuros
