A successful first experience around the world and on the media scene

Cole Brauer came to public attention with her second place in the Global Solo Challenge 2023-2024, which she completed in 130 days aboard her Class40 First Light . We had the chance to chat with her at the its entry into the southern seas .

This feat has helped her gain notoriety and a place among the big names in ocean racing. Active on social networks, where she has over 480,000 followers on Instagram, she shares her experience and helps popularize solo sailing.
After this fine performance, she once again completed a half circumnavigation aboard her Class 40, with Elisabeth Tucker, the boat's new skipper.
A key role in the Malizia team

Now a member of Lorient-based Team Malizia, Cole Brauer will be taking part in several major races in 2025. In particular, she will be taking part in the Course des Caps, the Admiral's Cup and The Ocean Race Europe. These crewed events will give her the opportunity to familiarize herself with the IMOCA boats and hone her skills in preparation for her ultimate goal: the Vendée Globe.
Boris Herrmann, who will not be taking part in the 2028 race, praised the talent and determination of his new team-mate. "To sail solo around the world on a Class40 is an incredible feat. Cole is inspiring and brings a fresh perspective to our team. Although I've been lucky enough to mentor her, I've learned a lot from her. I'm delighted to be racing alongside Cole and Will this year."
A challenging 2025 season

Team Malizia will start its season with the Course des Caps the start is scheduled for June 29, 2025 in Boulogne-sur-Mer. This 2,000-nautical-mile race around the British Isles will mark the boat's return to competition after the Vendée Globe. The team will then take part in the Admiral's Cup in July, a prestigious event returning after a twenty-year absence. And finally.., The Ocean Race Europe starting in August in Kiel, will take the crew through European waters to the Mediterranean.
Successful integration and asserted ambitions
For Cole Brauer, joining the Malizia team represents a major achievement. "Being part of this team is a dream come true. Today marks the end of one chapter with the sale of First Light and the start of a new one as co-skipper on Malizia. I'm looking forward to learning alongside this exceptional group and taking part in the next races on the IMOCA circuit."
