Rockwool Canada Sail Grand Prix sold out

Halifax hosts the first-ever Rockwool Canada Sail Grand Prix this weekend, June 1 and 2, to a sold-out crowd. Les Bleus, 5th on equal points with the 4th-placed Danes, are determined to put things right after their disappointing performance in Bermuda. The battle for 3rd place, currently occupied by the Spaniards, is on! Only three Sail Grand Prix remain to determine the trio who will face off on July 14 in San Francisco, for the $2 million Grand Final.

Rendezvous in Saint-Tropez for the 55th Coupe de France of the Yacht Club de France

The Coupe de France, France's oldest sailing trophy, this year brought together a dozen 12 mJIs in 12 events organized by clubs allied to the Yacht Club de France.

In Saint-Tropez, it was the Pre-World for the 12mJIs, who competed over 3 days of racing in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez from May 28 to 30, 2024. After five races, the final day of racing having to be cancelled due to the Mistral wind, with gusts approaching 30 knots, the overall winner in all classes was Patrizio Bertelli's Kookaburra, ahead of Patrick Howaldt's Vim and Christoffer Black Peterse's Kiwi Magic.

The World Championship will take place in Porquerolles from June 16 to 24, 2024, before the stopover in Barcelona during the America's Cup. The 12mJI will then return during Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, the final leg of the Cup, and celebrate their new champion!

Baptism of the Défi français AC75

Les Bleus d'Orient Express Racing Team unveiled the French foiler for its christening in Barcelona. A representative group of the French team has been brought together to sponsor the AC75 Orient Express Racing Team: Manon Audinet, skipper of the women's team, Enzo Balanger, skipper of the youth team, Quentin Delapierre, skipper of the Challenger and Gilda Perez-Alavarado, CEO of Orient Express.

Record attendance for Porquerolle's Classic 2024

For its 21 e edition, the Porquerolle's Classic organized by the Yacht Club de Porquerolles will welcome fifty-five classic and 12m JI yachts from June 6 to 9. With less than two weeks to go until the 12m JI World Championship, to be held in Porquerolles from June 16 to 22, nine yachts will be taking part in Porquerolle's Classic: Flica II, France 1, French Kiss, Jenetta, Kiwi Magic, La Spina, South Australia, Thea and Vim. The battle promises to be fierce in the 12m JI class.

New partners for Jean Le Cam

Sill Entreprises and its subsidiary Maison Le Gall confirm their partnership with skipper Jean Le Cam for the next edition of the Vendée Globe. The sailor will be competing in his 6th Vendée Globe aboard his boat Tout commence en Finistère - Armor-Lux.

Top start of the New York Vendée âeuros Les Sables-d'Olonne

This Wednesday at 8 p.m. (Paris time), 2 p.m. (New York time), 28 skippers set off to tackle the New York Vendée âeuros Les Sables-d'Olonne, the last qualifying race before the Vendée Globe. The start was given 90 miles off the American east coast, to avoid traffic and protect marine mammals. Conditions were very light, with 7 to 9 knots of wind. Before the start, Louis Burton hit a UFO, damaging his furler. He was able to count on the support of Yoann Richomme, who lent him a spare part. The first sailors are expected in Les Sables-d'Olonne from June 7.

Sails of Change wins first Grand Prix of the season

The TF35 Nyon Cup ended on Sunday with victory for Yann Guichard and his crew in the first Grand Prix of the 2024 sports season, which brought together 6 crews on Lake Geneva. In his first GP at the helm of Sails of Change 10, Duncan Späth finished 5th overall.

Acrobatica wins first leg of Atlantic Cup 2024

Eight teams representing four countries started the Atlantic Cup on May 24 at 12 noon under sunny skies, with an initial breeze of 3 to 5 knots from the north. The German team Sign for Com crossed the start line first, closely followed by Nestenn Entrepreneurs Pour La Planète and Scowling Dragon. This first leg took them to Newport. After a race-long battle with Everial, Acrobatica managed to win stage 1, crossing the line at 7:46:16 local time on May 28. Their cumulative time of 67:46:16 set a new Charleston-Newport course record, beating the previous best time set in 2012 by Jean Marre's team (78:55:13). Just 10 minutes 27 seconds later, Everial crossed the line, followed by the youngest duo in the fleet, Sign for Com, which reached the Newport finish at 10:00:12

28 Figaro Bénéteau for the 6th edition of the Le Havre Allmer Cup 2024

28 Figaro Beneteau 3 boats will take part in the 6th edition of the Le Havre Allmer Cup, which runs from May 31 to June 8. Race director Yann Chateau has concocted a varied program of offshore and inshore racing, sure to gauge the competition two months ahead of La Solitaire du Figaro. The competition kicks off with a major offshore leg on Sunday June 2 at 4pm. Approximately 420 nautical miles long, it will take the boats along the English and Breton coasts, before returning to Le Havre on Wednesday June 5. After a day of rest and sharing, including J80 sailing with members of the Société des Régates du Havre, a barbecue and a concert on Thursday June 6, the Figaro racers will set off on Friday June 7 and Saturday June 8 on coastal courses in the Baie de Seine.

The Global Solo Challenge has chosen the city of Vigo, Spain, and its prestigious Real Club Náutico de Vigo, as the starting and finishing port for the second edition of the non-stop round-the-world race, to be held in 2027-2028, after the first edition in 2023-2024 organized with Marina Coruña, Coruña.

The end of an intense Paprec 600 Saint-Tropez

Setting out from Saint-Tropez on Monday May 20, 2024 with an easterly wind and the accompanying swell, the thirty competitors in the Paprec 600 Saint-Tropez then faced a wide variety of weather conditions. Throughout the 600-nautical-mile course between the mainland, Corsica, the Italian islands, the passage of the Giraglia, and the return to Saint-Tropez, the suspense lasted right to the end! In the Class40 group, Centrakor with Mikael Mergui and Richard Robini won ahead of their counterparts on HA Plus PME with François Verdier and Pierre Laurent Garnero and Glaces Romane âeuros Guérir en mer with Kito de Pavant and Samuel Buissart. On the IRC side, Chenapan IV (crew), Stoertebeker (crew) and Notre Méditerranée Ville de Nice (Duo) came out on top in real time, the compensated ranking gave victory in the double-handed group (14 competitors) to BLUE 007 with Michel Sastre and Arnaud Vuillemin, ahead of SAKIFO with Lucas and Philippe Mao and MARCHER SUR L'EAU with Benoit David and Guillaume Barbet. On the crew side (8 competitors), GIOGIO with Philippe Mariani won ahead of LEU with Thierry Desseine and ALBATOR with Benoit Briand.

Act 1 of the Ocean Fifty Series, Solidaires en Peloton wins

For Act 1 of the Ocean Fifty Series, the fleet was virtually complete: 9 50-foot multihulls and 50 sailors from all walks of life. Over 4 days, 9 races were contested in Saint-Malo. At the end of this first competition, Thibaut Vauchel-Camus's crew on Solidaires En Peloton won after a duel with Realites. 3rd place went to Erwan Le Roux on Koesio. Act 2 takes place from June 19 to 23 in Pornichet-La Baule. This time, the fleet will be fully reunited, joined by Christopher Pratt on Wind of Trust âeuros Fondation pour l'Enfance.

Vendée Liberty, runs before the big jump into the Atlantic

Between the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan, the skippers of the New York Vendée-Les Sables d'Olonne competed in the Vendée Liberty, a run competition in New York Bay. Despite light winds, the sailors, divided into 4 pools, tried to sail the fastest 1-mile course. Romain Attanasio on Fortinet - Best Western won in 5min 55s.
