The feigned elegance of The Famous Project maxi-trimaran

On May 31, 2024, Alexia Barrier will launch the Maxi trimaran IDEC SPORT with a new design by Jean-Baptiste Epron. This graphic design, in collaboration with the main partners, maintains the essence of the project while respecting the boat's personality.

Alexia Barrier's launch of the Maxi trimaran IDEC SPORT marks a new stage in her 100% women's project. For her look, Jean-Baptiste Epron has combined elegance and history through a new decoration of the boat.

A graphic challenge for an ambitious project

Sailor Alexia Barrier is preparing to launch the Maxi trimaran IDEC SPORT on May 31, 2024. This new dress is the fruit of a close collaboration with designer-navigator Jean-Baptiste Epron. Together, they worked on a new decoration for the trimaran, combining aesthetics and symbolism. The decoration, in line with the projectâ??s main partners âeuros the Idec Group, CIC bank, Wipro and Richard Mille âeuros retains IDEC SPORTâ??s red bows, emblematic since the Jules Verne Trophy record in 2017.

A boat of refined design

Jean-Baptiste Epron, a renowned designer in the world of ocean racing, took up the challenge of softening the trimaran's masculinity while respecting its power. " This boat is virile and very masculine. The face shapes chosen to dress the sails tend to suggest the very feminine essence of Alexia's project "he explains. JB Epron, who has already put his stamp on the boat with liveries for Groupama, Banque Populaire and Groupe Idec, emphasizes the trimaran's timeless elegance: " I love this boat. It has the elegance of a classic yacht. She's a witness to a whole generation of multihulls before flying boats "he adds.

A story of solidarity and adventure

Alexia Barrier emphasizes Jean-Baptiste Epron's artistic vision: " Jean-Baptiste Epron is a boat artist par excellence. I put all my trust in him. Our partners have all embraced the story Jean-Baptiste tells us, with those faces sketched in our sails, and those color codes on a black background ". The new decoration tells a story of solidarity and shared adventure, while respecting the partners' color codes and paying tribute to the Jules Verne Trophy record.

What happens next

Alexia Barrier will be in Brittany to supervise the completion of the trimaran's refit at Multiplast in Vannes. 15 people are working tirelessly to give the boat a new lease of life. After her launch, IDEC SPORT will head for La Trinité-sur-Mer for final fine-tuning and the first sailing tests at the end of June. Training will begin in July, with a delivery trip to the Mediterranean scheduled for September.

Towards new horizons

Alexia Barrier's project, The Famous Project, aims to beat the Jules Verne Trophy record with an all-female crew. The challenge is based on four pillars: shining a light on women, protecting the oceans, inspiring the younger generation and promoting self-improvement. Alongside Alexia, renowned female sailors such as Dee Caffari, Marie Riou and Elodie-Jane Mettraux will be part of the crew. This ambitious project paves the way for a new generation of women in ocean racing.
