BayCruiser 21: Swallow Yachts know-how for an elegant coastal raid

The BayCruiser 21 condenses the British manufacturer's experience in small sailboats designed for short cruises and coastal raids. The result is a boat with British charm that makes you want to explore estuaries and bay bottoms.

An even more seaworthy boat

Since 1995, Swallow Yachts has been building elegant small transportable sailboats, with the motto: classic looks and modern performance. Constructed in fiberglass, but with a hull imitating clapboard, the boats combine a liquid ballast with a tilting centerboard to explore all waters, estuaries and bays independently, with coastal raids as their credo.

With the BayCruiser 21, the British shipyard launches a new generation, replacing the Bayrider expedition. Matt Newland explains: "We've made a number of small improvements, with a 100% drained cockpit, increased freeboard to be drier, easier access to the bow by widening the side decks. Aesthetics have also been modernized. Inside, the cabin has been enlarged. Integrating a toilet and more comfortable face-to-face seating."

A boat for open-air living

The BayCruiser 21's vast cockpit will comfortably accommodate the crew, with sufficiently long and deep seating. For a coastal raid program, this comfort will be appreciated, as will the possibility of integrating an outboard in the well, easily accessible near the helm or the real anchor locker. A number of details are unmistakable, such as the special part used to support the boom at anchor or the mast for transport.

The carbon rig is sufficiently light to facilitate masting in the slipway, and will accommodate the high leech mainsail. Coupled with the furling jib, this brings the total sail area to 19 m2, which should be enough to propel the boat, which has a displacement of 1 ton with its 400 kilos of liquid ballast. If required, an asymmetrical spinnaker can be fitted to a carbon bowsprit.

A simple, efficient cabin

With an elegantly revised coachroof design and an attractive sheer, the new cabin blends in better with the boat's silhouette, while easily fulfilling the functionalities expected by coastal camping enthusiasts.

There's also storage space under the companionway for a chemical toilet. Two removable cushions can be used either as a comfortable double bed or as a backrest. Textile storage compartments.
