Tiwal 3R Max, a high-performance inflatable dinghy with headsails

Breton manufacturer Tiwal continues to develop its transportable and inflatable dinghies. A new model completes the range with a sportier program. The Tiwal 3R Max focuses on headsails and optimized architecture.

With over 3,300 units sold in some 50 countries, Tiwal has established itself in the removable inflatable dinghy segment. The launch of the Tiwal 3R Max marks an evolution towards a more committed program. The stated aim is to deliver even greater performance without compromising the brand's principles of transportability and simplicity.

An inflatable hull designed for planning

The Tiwal 3R Max introduces a more complete rig with the addition of a 2 m² jib and a 3 m² gennaker, in addition to a 6.2 to 7.2 m² mainsail supplied by North Sails. This configuration significantly modifies the boat's behavior. Upwind, the jib improves upwind sailing and contributes to longitudinal balance. On downwind points of sail, the gennaker favors planing starts and enables higher speeds to be maintained in the gusts.
Marion Excoffon explains: " With the 3R Max, we've sought to amplify the sensations, to make each reef more intense, each acceleration even more lively. It's a boat for sailors looking for performance, without the constraints of a classic rigid boat. "

A mixed structure to collect charges

The architecture is based on high-pressure inflatable floats combined with an anodized aluminum frame. The C90 carbon mast, in five parts and without shrouds, simplifies installation while accepting the stresses associated with the extra canvas.
The integration of a bowsprit allows the gennaker to be set, while the fittings are adapted to manage the headsails from the cockpit. The overall aim is to maintain healthy behavior despite the increase in power. At 3.20 m long and 1.60 m wide, and weighing just 61 kg, the boat's proportions are compatible with handling on land without lifting gear.

Transport and implementation in tiwal DNA

The Tiwal 3R Max is logistically similar to the other models in the range. The entire package is packed into three bags, plus a dedicated mainsail bag. Assembly takes between 30 and 40 minutes, depending on configuration. This approach means the boat can be transported in the trunk of a car and launched without the need for port infrastructure.
With a maximum load of 200 kg and Category D certification, the program remains geared towards coastal and inland navigation. Price positioning starts at ?11,490 incl. VAT.

This new Tiwal is clearly aimed at sailors looking for skiff-like sensations, while retaining the reduced logistical constraints of a dismountable boat.
