A catamaran to sail regularly and comfortably at over 30 knots

Finot-Conq announces the start of construction of an extraordinary fast cruising catamaran. Designed for an experienced sailor-owner who is very involved in the project, construction of this yacht will begin shortly.

The Finot-Conq architectural firm was not expected to take on this type of project: a 38-meter fast cruising catamaran! More specialized in monohulls, racing or cruising, this firm has just won an architectural competition to design a 125-foot cruising catamaran.

Fast sailing in comfort

The specifications had to meet the wishes of an owner who wanted a fast cruising catamaran that would sail regularly and comfortably at over 30 knots. As a result, the design features a 38-m-long sailboat, fairly narrow with a beam of 14.50 m, and very narrow hulls derived from racing multihulls.

The know-how of ocean racing

To design this marvel, the architects have extended the association that has produced such good results for the in-house IMOCA boats: GSea Design is in charge of the calculations and structural plans, while Antoine Koch is involved in the general balances, VPP and hull shapes.

Narrow hulls to minimize drag, a generous sail area of over 700 m2, and a controlled weight of less than 80 t, combined with two curved daggerboards assemblies, all combine to deliver outstanding performance. All maneuvers are grouped together on the flybridge to help you get the hang of things.

Given the narrow layout, it was a challenge to provide sleeping accommodation for 12 guests in 4 guest cabins and an owner's suite. 2 other cabins are reserved for the crew.

On the ecological side, in order to reduce the impact of such a project, the team worked on drastically reducing the number of disposable molds and maximizing the use of flat parts produced on the table, reusing decommissioned aeronautical prepreg carbon, and finally, the visible part, the 140m2 of solar panels that will produce energy for life on board.

Construction begins in early 2024, with a launch scheduled for spring 2026.
