Nov7, renovating boat upholstery without using templates

The young company Nov7 aims to combine innovation and manual skills in upholstery and sewing to facilitate the renovation of pleasure boats. A service that uses the telephone and image analysis to create new saddlery for your boat.

Renewing your upholstery without using templates

The young company Nov7 was founded by Cécile Fleury and Stéphane Gresset to combine their passion for boating with both their manual and digital skills. While Cécile Fleury turned to nautical saddlery after a doctorate in computer science and biology, Stéphane Gresset worked for over 15 years in sailmaking, saddlery and rigging before training in boat design at the DPEA architecture school in Nantes. Their combined experience gave rise to the idea of using technology and drawing to simplify the saddler's work, starting with image analysis to recreate a 3D model of the boat and its upholstery furniture.

Simplify selection and manufacturing

Nov7 can do away with the tedious task of making templates for used boat upholstery. The company limits travel costs and carbon footprint, building cushions and other mattresses directly or supplying local partners with plans and cut material, ready to assemble, potentially anywhere in the world.

Customers can also use 3D models to select colors.

A reading process within everyone's reach

Technically, Nov7 is based on a simple protocol. The customer is invited to take a series of photos, of which there are at least a hundred, with many overlaps. A few dimensional photos of clearly identifiable elements enable Nov7 to correctly scale its model. All that's left to do is upload the photos to the company's website, along with customer references, to obtain a quote.
